Bright Ideas Grants
Sponsored by North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy® cooperatives, Bright Ideas education grants provide funding for a variety of hands-on classroom projects for students in grades K–12 throughout the state.
Grants of up to $2,000 are awarded for Tar Heel teachers to improve classroom instruction and to encourage innovative teaching methods. Educators serving K–12 schools are eligible for the grants, which are awarded in a competitive evaluation process by individual electric cooperatives throughout the state.
Each year, more than 2,000 applications arrive from teachers in a variety of disciplines including music, art, history, reading, science, career-planning and information technology. Since the Bright Ideas program began in 1994, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have awarded $5.3 million to sponsor 5,000 projects benefiting 800,000 students. The program offers a convenient and simple online application process.
